District and PVFA Reach Tentative Agreement

PALOS VERDES PENINSULA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT AND PALOS VERDES FACULTY ASSOCIATION ARE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE A TENTATIVE AGREEMENT

 

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District (PVPUSD) and the Palos Verdes Faculty Association (PVFA) are pleased to announce the completion of a tentative agreement for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 school year.

Dr. Don Austin, PVPUSD Superintendent stated, "I would like to thank everyone involved in the successful negotiations process. I believe everyone will be happy to have the contract settled so we can return to the most important work of serving our students.  I would also like to thank our students and parents for their patience and understanding as we worked through some difficult and complex issues.  Finally, I would like to thank our teachers for their unwavering commitment to our students."

The tentative agreement includes the following for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 school years:

2016-17

1.0%    Salary Increase Retroactive to January 1, 2017

2017-18

2.75% Additional Salary Increase Beginning February 1, 2018

“We are thrilled to have reached a settlement with our partners from PVFA. I would like to thank PVFA leadership for their advocacy for our tremendous teaching staff in PVPUSD,” Dr. Matt Horvath, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources remarked.

The tentative agreement also included changes to the stipends schedule and contract language including grade reporting, special education reassignments, and parental and child-bonding leaves.

PVFA members will vote on the tentative agreement in the coming weeks. If approved, the new contract will then be voted on by the PVPUSD Board of Education at a regularly scheduled meeting.
