Can I take classes on my home High School campus while enrolled in the Independent Study program?
This is handled on a case-by-case basis.
Can I participate in sports or extra curricular activities?
Yes, you can be in Independent Study and play a sport and/or a 7th period afterschool activity.
Can I be in a club on the comprehensive HS campus?
Only if the club is an afterschool club. You may not be on the high school campuses during the school day.
What courses can I take in Independent Study program?
Most college prep and honors courses are offered. There are some AP Courses however,MCR level courses are not available. PVPUSD has used APEX courses in the past and may continue to do so. An example of courses may be found here:https://www.apexlearning.com/catalog

Will the teacher instruct me during the meetings?
No, the teacher(s) are there to check progress and ensure students are mentored to stay on track.
Do I need to come in person for my meetings?
Meetings and assessments must be in person unless there is a circumstance that makes it impossible to come in person.
Can I participate in graduation at my home school?
No, there will be a graduation for Independent Study students.
What about Prom and senior activities?
The comprehensive high schools allow students from RDM and Independent Study program to attend Prom. Senior activities that are on campus during the school day will not be open to Independent Study students.
