PVPUSD offers a Transitional Kindergarten (TK) as an exciting educational option allowing children to further develop their social and emotional skills and be ready to actively engage in academics at the traditional kindergarten level.
Research shows that, for some students, the option to participate in a two-year kindergarten program provides them the opportunity to succeed throughout their entire school career. The TK year provides these students the ‘gift of time’ and acts as a bridge between a more flexible play-and-learn environment and the more structured academic setting of today’s kindergarten classrooms. TK classes offer learning opportunities that use smaller group settings, hands-on learning, and a language-rich environment to prepare students for school success.
Transitional Kindergarten is a District program that does not adhere to school boundaries. There is a possibility for students to be placed at any school in the district, regardless of existing sibling attendance. While every attempt is made to place students at a school near their family residence, there is no guarantee this can happen. Students who attend a TK program at a school that is not their home school will be assigned to attend their home school for grades K-5.
***Children who turn 5 years old on or between September 2 and December 2 may enroll in TK by following the Enrollment process found here
