4th Grade Math to Math 6 Accel: Acceleration by Demonstration
Current fourth-grade students seeking to accelerate through 5th grade math and enroll in Math 6 Accel as a 5th grader must meet the criteria as outlined in the PVPUSD Placement in Mathematics Courses: Acceleration Protocol for Elementary School Courses.
Acceleration through 5th grade math is granted by demonstration by meeting all the end of 4th grade district double acceleration requirements as defined below. Please note that all assessments for acceleration will be administered each spring.
- Meet the district defined requirements on the corresponding readiness assessment
- Earn 4’s in all math domains on the 2nd trimester report card
- Receive teacher recommendation to accelerate
- Meet the district defined requirements on the corresponding PVPUSD Placement Test and iReady assessment where applicable

To support students with their interest in acceleration, students may review the 5th grade standards through Khan Academy or the Big Ideas Math textbook.
