Math 6 Accel to Algebra 1 Honors: Acceleration by Demonstration
Students currently in Math 6 Accelerated seeking to accelerate through Math 7/8 accelerated and enroll in Algebra 1 Honors as a 7th graders must meet the criteria as outlined in the PVPUSD Placement in Mathematics Courses: Acceleration Protocol for Elementary School Courses.
Acceleration through the intermediate school pathways is granted by demonstration by meeting 2 of the 3 requirements from (a) – (c) AND meeting requirement (d). Please note, assessments for acceleration will be administered each spring.
- Meet district-defined requirements on the corresponding readiness assessment
- Earn a grade of A in all trimesters (intermediate school) or 4’s in all math domains in the second trimester (elementary school) in the previous course as defined in the PVPUSD math pathways
- Earn “exceeds standards” on the CAASPP in mathematics or meets district-defined requirements on the iReady assessment
- Meet the district defined requirements on the PVPUSD placement test for the appropriate course (Required)
