Lots of teachers, lots of people of people on staff have had challenges so this is not the only person who has had a challenge but today I want to honor a great teacher a gamer a person who shows up every day with with nothing in her mind but how to serve other peoples kids a great teammate a great staff member a great representation of our school district the kind of person who when you say what is your district like I like to bring her up and say her this one she is battling cancer right now and part of what she is having to do because she is who she is she comes to work on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday on Thursday she gets her chemotherapy on Friday she is wiped out today happens to be a Friday she sucks it up over the weekend and whether she feels like it or not she is back in the classroom on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. She does that over and over and over again and she is not doing it for her she is doing it because she is a teacher and that is where she belongs in a classroom. So while she can't be here today I did ask for her teammate to come up and accept the award. We are videotaping this today you might see the camera and I think someone also has it on face time and this video is going to be presented to her to show her exactly how we much we appreciate her as our first recipient of the Spirit of Palos Verdes award and I will read this to you just quickly this is not a quote taken off of some website its wording I felt and her staff expressed to me "An amazing teacher with a caring heart toughness commitment the ability to handle any challenge with perseverance and dignity." Her Spirit of PVPUSD by Kim where's Kim, Kim come on out here goes to Stacy Upton I probably should of thought about how powerful it was going to be for her in front of 500 people Wow she deserves that and so do a lot of people one thing I was thinking about you know I do a lot of reflection too it is impossible for a school district to do something like that for each individual
