it's September and you know what that means school is back in session on the hill and for peninsula high it also means there's a new man at the helm I had a chance to catch up with new principal Brent kuykendall who are Eddie knows if they are two about being a panther or graduate 1995 four years later came back to do my student teaching in first year teaching at Vista Grande had a great experience there but then was invited to have the opportunity to reopen Ridgecrest so that was pretty neat VA student there that close did not personally but was there when it closed and then come back as a teacher for it to introductory class and then was there for about 9 years before kind of ministration was at Merrill s refuse in assistant principal then policies High School back to Ridgecrest the principal back to my last of the principal and now pendants High School love being a part of the community I think it's a way that I'm able to continue to build relationships with families and with students knowing the great Parts about you know being here I was approached and asked if this is something that I would want to take on and you know in the back of my head I was hoping that someday this you come here come to my alma mater and and be the Principal but I wasn't necessarily on my on my immediate radar so I was a little taken back but I'm incredibly on read this is an amazing institution with some incredibly talented students and dedicated staff so to be able to get on board with them it's it's it's really can come true the fortune thing is being in this District my entire career I do know a lot of people from just my different positions giving everyone the opportunity to understand the person who I am and my expectations I think I'm driven to continue to support the school in all of its success and not getting away you know as a principle I think we have an important job to celebrate what makes a school Gray and that's really what drives me every day is to get to know these kids and make sure that they have every opportunity to show who they are and to explore and grow and be the person we know they can be today and then tomorrow so I think is a leader of a school its you know I'm driven motivate to inspire you know and and get to know the kids but it's a great job it really is never get an opportunity like that you know their people and education their entire lives and they seek those positions out and they don't ever get a chance to be the school with with that level of success for me to get it so early my career it's in some of its just darn Lockheed know some of its being in the right place at the right time so I take it with bated breath but play start everyday motivated to do what's right for kids what's right for the community about that relationship doctor Park and I have worked together closely he actually when I left Palace Verdes high school to become the principal Ridgecrest he he came and took the position that I vacated we had a great relationship I think we have a similar philosophy and, in the way we lead a school and we've had many discussions even just over this summer about talking how can we make sure to celebrate this District as a whole doesn't mean we can't have a fun rivalry and put it do it all in the field but there we need to move away from any of the petting or or small things because if we're battling each other we're not doing any each other any good you know if we can work together and become greater together I think we only are going to do better serve for everyone or teachers or staff and in the entire
