(PALOS VERDES ESTATES, CA) -- The Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District (PVPUSD) today announced that Assistant Superintendent, Human Resources Dr. Matt Horvath has accepted the position of Assistant Superintendent, Personnel Services in the Beverly Hills Unified School District pending approval.  The District is excited to announce that Dr. Rick Licciardello will replace Dr. Horvath as head of the PVPUSD Human Resources Department.

Superintendent Cherniss commended Dr. Horvath and welcomed the promotion of Dr. Licciardello, “We are appreciative of Dr. Horvath’s leadership over the past four years and in our many accomplishments with which he spearheaded.  In promoting Dr. Licciardello, our district is rewarding an individual with over three decades of outstanding performance and dedication to our community and our kids.

“I am excited to accept the new challenges that await me in Beverly Hills Unified,” Horvath stated. “I am proud of the accomplishments our district has realized during my tenure in PVPUSD. We settled multiple collective bargaining agreements that included multi-year calendars and created leadership pipeline programs to grow the capacity of our current and future leaders. I will miss my friends and colleagues in PVPUSD very much but trust that excellent things await with Dr. Licciardello leading human resources.”

Dr. Licciardello has been part of PVPUSD since 1998 when he began as a social studies teacher at Miraleste Intermediate School. For the past five years, Dr. Licciardello has served as the Coordinator for Human Resources. Prior to his current role, he also was an intermediate and high school counselor, dean at Rancho del Mar, assistant principal at Miraleste Intermediate and is also currently the principal of Rancho del Mar High School

Said Dr. Licciardello, “I am very grateful for this opportunity and proud to be leading the Human Resources Department. Our District has amazing students, supportive families, dedicated faculty, staff and a generous community that I look forward to serving.”

“It is our expectation that Dr. Licciardello will continue the excellent work that Dr. Horvath began for us these past years including the Aspiring Leaders Institute, so we can continue to promote from within PVPUSD. Dr. Licciardello has shown his dedication to our students and staff in his previous positions. We wish Dr. Horvath the best in his new position and thank him for his tireless work”, board president Suzanne Seymour stated.
