Latest News on School Closures

March 13, 2020

Dear PVPUSD School Community,

Thank you for your support and assistance as we navigate through the challenges of the COVID-19 outbreak.  All schools are closed through the end of the regularly scheduled Spring Break, April 3, 2020.  Schools will reopen on April 6, 2020.

We have been informed that a parent of students at Silver Spur Elementary School and Valmonte Early Learning Academy (VELA) has tested positive for COVID-19.  While this report has not been verified yet by the CDC or the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, we have reason to believe that this report is accurate.  This parent has shared that they were notified by the hospital of a positive test for COVID-19.  The parent did not enter either school campus the family attends. We will continue to update you as more information becomes available. Families and staff at these two campuses will also receive additional information regarding the time and date the campus will be available to retrieve any items after a deep cleaning of the facilities has been completed.

Students, parents and staff at other campuses will have one last opportunity to retrieve any items from school on Monday, March 16th from 8:00 am - 12 noon. After that time, campuses will close for deep cleaning until school is scheduled to reopen.

Please continue to monitor your email and the following PVPUSD resources for information and updates:

Thank you.
