Superintendent's Student Advisory Council (SAC)

Purpose: 

The Student Advisory Council (SAC) will provide a forum for PVPUSD students in grades 10-12 to share their experiences, ideas, information, concerns, and interests with the Superintendent. The SAC will provide a student voice that will guide discussions and decisions pertaining to policies, programs, and processes that have a significant impact on students. SAC members will also serve as ambassadors and engage in two-way communication with their peers/schools. 

 

 

The Advisory Council Will:  

  • Serve as a forum for the exchange of ideas and concerns related to the PVPUSD student experience  
  • Provide feedback and input for the ongoing development and enhancement of PVPUSD programs and processes 
  • Develop leadership capacity among student advisory members 
  • Empower students to have a voice and use it effectively  

 

Meeting Time and Dates:  

(Meeting location subject to change with advance notice)  

 

8:00-9:00 a.m. Wednesday mornings, District Office, Board room

SAC Members will: 


CONNECT – Relationships are what drive decisions, actions, and achievement.  

  • Reach out to school-site peers to hear ideas and concerns  
  • Bring topics of discussion that represent many students’ perspectives 
  • Come prepared to take an active part in discussions, consistently listen, and respect all viewpoints
  • Learn ways to celebrate diversity and create an inclusive and equitable school climate  

 

EMPOWER – The student voice is vital when making decisions that impact students.  

  • Participate in problem-solving by generating ideas and actions that will positively impact PVPUSD students  
  • Give input about programs and decisions that widely impact students 
  • Share information about SAC outcomes with school-site peers, staff, and administration  

 

VALUE – All students, staff, and school community members feel valued as an effective member of their stakeholder group.  

  • Seek and share feedback on ways to celebrate & improve school culture and learning environments to ensure that every student feels appreciated and has a meaningful voice  
  • Share feedback about student perceptions or school safety and inclusive environments 
  • Share ideas to help encourage peers to advocate for themselves academically, socially, and emotionally  

 

ACHIEVE – All staff and students have equitable access to learning opportunities and leadership development, so they may reach their greatest potential as they journey through PVPUSD 

  • Be prepared to take an active role in developing and implementing positive solutions  
  • Represent all student voices 
  • Embrace PVPUSD history and celebrated traditions 
  • Be the change we want to see in our schools
