classes for academic classes now this is an excuse to drop something at this semester and take something new and so I'm not sure how I Association feels about this is a practice in a precedent-setting it makes me a little uncomfortable I don't like a 5 start time because I think kids who do a sport or drama or anything that's then I can be able to go I love the topic I think criminal justice words I called you out too tanning topic are students to take I'm just I'm just not comfortable with paying a private university to teach our kids a class when they can go to Community College for free and it is just a weird it's just we are precedent why would we do that if if if I if a student wants to go learn Arabic they can just go do that and they pay for themselves and they can get credit for at a college or high-school level it just seems like a weird president I don't want to pick on Mary Mount Ida I'm just I'm just not comfortable with this as a precedent for us going forward as much as I think the topic is something that a lot of students are would be interested in and and want to study in college so that's kind of where I am with it I think that we need to work hard at developing relationships with other institutions more than just Marymount College actually you know I've been pvnet they do a lot of things for our kids there too and Sterling to community colleges we need to work on those relationships also so I see this as an opportunity for our kids today to class that they wouldn't only take I mean Peninsula have a class this semester coming up in Spring Harbor college professor that comes to pain and teaches up I think on Monday nights 2 it is difficult for a lot of our kids to get to Harbor City or get to talk Encino on that's why I like the snow. It's just something personal. as we got that we also got in that there is 180 day termination Clause typically financial advisors don't do that you typically sign up for them for a five-year contract in virtually every District that I seen but that was important and then legal help us get in place and then how we are incorporating their original proposal as Exhibit C proposal for John Isom in assos Tyson Associates Isom advisors tease me mister Isom John Isom sent me a letter today that he asked for me to read to the board and into the record so dear doctor turn this is a pop to my prior letter dated October 3rd first which was basically qualifications type letter I specifically wanted to respond to a question that was raised during the interviews for financial advisors regarding a website article on the firm in short the article which was dated April 1st 2017 was a poor attempt at an April Fool's joke that implied that me our company a bond counsel firm and hundreds of board members and superintendents were involved in some wrongdoing the contents therein are both false and defamatory and there's no corroborating so sista back up any of the claims of helping his correspondence answers the question and helps to avoid someone missing deal comes ill-conceived jug I wanted to write you thinks I wanted to write you to clarify things looking forward to our continued work in relation with you in the district excuse me this is response to bogus online thing that was written about him and so we wanted to just have him a dress that make sure that the boards clear on that so John did address the that dreamy interviews in the selection process so we were aware at the time that we selected him and that it was a bad April Fool's Day got one done by him done by somebody else. contract with Isom advisors be approved as presented all right all in favor I thought you okay our board policies are that if somebody votes nowhere stains we usually keep when we think that's it up and I was trying to keep it clean if I sat interviews of all six of the seven firms that applied there certainly was one firm that I didn't choose because of that and in our internal discussions and I don't have the same issues with John that you have in actually John's been pretty responsive to the request that I've made through Alex and Keith about the issues in been straightforward and I ate and I also think it's important I think this is where your kids touched on is that some of these firms have two sides to their operations one being Financial advisory and another side being political advice John's from is one that has both sides to his operation but to my knowledge the bond campaign, I don't really know what they've done to my knowledge I know that the district is only hired him for the financial advisory position in any as far as the financial advisor to date has been straightforward and his proposal so I can clarify then show this letter he's speaking of October 31st is a letter I called him and saying I've seen this would you be willing to write something to the extent that you are it was a joke that this was something that you know is and it took me 30 minutes of discussion with him before he finally agreed to do so and I felt that this was important enough for our district to our district they scrutinize everything that it was important enough so that I should not have had to essentially say hey either get this or or else you know I won't vote for you and it is important that we can trust who were going to work with that we feel that they have our best interests in mind and his lack of understanding towards our district and towards a reasonable request I felt was detrimental to a potential relationship when I was cspa and I was talking to some of the other Bond people he would come up and say oh yeah he's from Palace versus we're working with them right so he was interrupting conversations and assert himself before we even vote on the contract those are the issues I had with him and that is why I voted no point out to think you should be happy about in the contract then we didn't search the termination Clause so if it doesn't work out we have the right to terminate into we didn't start a clause that explicitly says that he has to act as a fiduciary which was not in the original context of both of those are moves to make sure that were aligned awesome thanks solicit a request for proposals for copiers function printers so the RFP is there and it's time for us to go out because our existing contract with Xerox has expired we're on a month-to-month with them we want to get a bid on new equipment and you see Dr. questions about it happy to answer those but we would like to go forward issue that are fee and then hopefully bring you back in a successful proposal run it from here so I'm sure she wants to answer at least a single question did stay here the whole time is going so well have another reorganization let me let me cut off a vacation in January, couple of questions perhaps that we've already discussed it and you won't have to again which is weird include in the RFP what we had in a previous one for the financial advisor a statement that they do need to disclose specifically any and all relationships with current District employees and reward members that could be determined to be a conflict of interest in this RFP will do that on all RFP is going forward and then also disclosure we're going to be a little clearer than what was written in the RFP cuz I agree is Rick and I read through yesterday we're going to say please also a disclosure of all litigation involving your firm for Last 5 Years very straightforward and then also the termination for convenience or default right where to clear that up so the this is on page Pages aren't numbered but under the section one of the of the The Proposal requirements at the very end of the project schedule those should be their own separate headings those two things and in and out of the conflict of interest one so that will have three and honestly going forward I'd like to do those three items in all of our proposals with assert page and then we just you know like you did in the financial advisor one and we have here in the non collusion certain maybe we have a separate pvpusd search record get out of here you hadn't mentioned yesterday so I'll make sure I get it so the where you're just looking for on the pages where it where are you again underneath project schedules which section Section 1 all right so there this this two things like I just want them highlight is the wrong thing so it's clear that they need to be each of those and then just make clear all the way so they have you ever been terminated so you want that as well fall and I'm okay with the last five years or something yeah they think that those are important disclosures are we in a sweet spot for this for this RFP I know some of them are tiny play Stripes over it when we get more responses pain pain when we send them out it's a big contract it's very complicated because we like to see more than enough three we're in The Sweet Spot and Eli's having to go out and do their own purchases dresses and total of eight lease contracts and to this one I would do have one that's kind of an outlier which expires in 2021 but perhaps we can get a buyout on it I don't know key to this RFP and when we will insist on going for the last contract had no ability to change modify as soon as we signed it we owed every penny that will not be the case in this one so we will have the ability and then the cost associated with adding deleting changing mod fine so that would make changes like to see improvements great there's a lot more flexibility and you show up and they usually have a good speaker whose child trafficking was the topics last year so I think it should be nice to have somebody do it somebody who you know lights going out to Montebello more than I do I'm at nobody else will do it what again how often how many times a year does it meet quarterly meaning I know we haven't done this with the first two but instantly would we members are as well which is it's nice to talk to them okay so then we have Hotel Roc that is I'm not really on the brink of survival and it's a long Saga I can turn it down for about 15 minutes when actually I think there's some value to having consistency on that committee fat for the other members of the committee also I did it once I don't want this year Linda I'm going to think there's three okay okay alright then we have Tech advisory and then we also have budget advisory so who's Tech advisory this year need to stay on have some continuity on that one okay and then let's go to budget advisory one or two for that though I don't have any. I mean we have so many things to do can anybody can go to you just can't speak I mean I know I went to what is the BAC that I went to when I wasn't a member picture of a case of budget advisory not should not be on this list because I think when we reauthorized it we appointed Linda and me for the whole week yeah so you're going to be on there anyway rap memes when did before me but I do that as I said at the time when I took over from when I think it's important to rotate these kinds of decisions I think everybody on the porch I'd like the opportunity to do that one it's a it's a daytime meeting like it noon or something yeah perfect and then you can go to Capitol Convoy and if you don't decide to go and then you can let traditionally also went to the chambers ledge committee meetings which are on once a month on Tuesdays as a package cuz you're doing the legislation stuff I will I will do a package deal okay we are just checking boxes all over the place so then we have the non-voting board rap to High School site Council and no way to do that now is that we put the list and we all like I like that for and we we we we we we didn't even have this list three or so years ago not like this is a much longer Listen to Never Had I guess again I think that there actually is some utility to continuity at those meeting several of those means work through the example of walking in you don't have that context depends on what time of year it is I think in the spring it's fine to switch people around I agree in the fall when they're working on these documents those two meanings are are good for the same time stand-alone meeting to is totally fine that I was there they were talking about different things weren't preparing documents one of the places that if you do get to interact with students in Houston was in I don't know Megan with which of these would be easier for you to attend yeah yeah yeah 8 a.m. or 3 p.m. so TV on Mondays is it in the morning yeah yeah it's not a frequent meeting that's one of those. believe some continuity as good as your you're watching but if somebody else had a a burning desire to to talk about buses and trouble I am not a little in PB trans at all honey bees are got to keep on trying to further their biggest customer and it's helpful for us to share with them what's coming down our pipe so they can look at the future what's a chance to to meet with the actual payers of the system which are the cities sounds like perfect okay in the chamber he was on that to math our meetings this year our love our cat thinks so Matthew I feel like you're taking on a lot and it's not going to do it we're all grateful for your service but don't feel like you have to do that cuz this one is a lot of work is the biggest opportunity to positive things for the district right because we're taking in but the states telling us and we're saying hey this is really matter what we want to do and then I'll just bring this to the boards if they decide to Papa can we bring it to the bar I'll continue doing it but don't feel obligated but I I think we worked well together on it with only got half the time it was awesome Columbia what to do at be good I think that would be good because like I said I think it's good to rotate so I can do that opportunity I'm fine with that I totally fine with that whatever you guys
