PVPUSD Boundary Information

Updated December 15, 2022
The cities of Palos Verdes Estates, Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, and Rolling Hills Estates comprise the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District. There are, however, still certain areas within these cities where PVPUSD is not the primary district of residence and are technically zoned for Los Angeles Unified School District.

Residents in these areas that have a student under the age of 5 requiring student services need to contact Los Angeles Unified School District.

Businesses in these areas are not eligible for Enrollment Based on Parent Employment.

While homes in these areas may elect to attend PVPUSD schools, eligibility is not extended to other PVPUSD permit opportunities including Grandparent Permit, which are specific to homes zoned directly to PVPUSD.
Eastview area homes are within the city limits of Rancho Palos Verdes but families actually reside within the boundary lines of Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).  As a result, each year on the “Annual Property Tax Bill” under the Detail of Taxes “Voted Indebtedness,” the words UNIFIED SCHOOLS refers to LAUSD, not PVPUSD.  Eastview residents do not pay for the PVPUSD parcel tax approved on June 3, 2003.

Senate Bill 1681 Approved by the governor in 1998, defines Eastview as “...part of the community of the City of Rancho Palos Verdes, as that area was annexed to that city in 1983.  Thus, the residents of that area should be allowed to participate in the events and activities that surround that community, including those that are sponsored by the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District.  The school district boundaries were not changed in 1983 when the city boundaries were changed which resulted in leaving the residents of the area of Eastview within the boundaries of the Los Angeles Unified School District and thereby with a different academic and recreational schedule than the community in which they actually reside.

Unsure about if your home is in the Eastview area?  Use the School Locator to find out!
