To familiarize incoming TK & Kindergarten students and families to the elementary school and its community, annually, in May, each site hosts an orientation on their campus. The principal and team will welcome the new students/families, meet the TK & Kindergarten teachers, tour the school and TK/Kindergarten area, and hear an overview of early elementary curriculum.
Sites will determine their orientation dates in the spring. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
Orientations are by invitation only. Only students who have been notified via email of their school assignment should attend.
According to Assembly Bill 130, there will be universal eligibility for all 4-year-olds by 2025-26. PVPUSD will slowly begin to implement this by increasing the age of four-year-olds who can be admitted into TK each year beginning in the 2022-23 school year.
2022-2023 School Year
Students can enroll in TK if they turn 5 between September 2nd and February 2nd
2023-2024 School Year
Students can enroll in TK if they turn 5 between September 2nd and April 2nd
2024-2025 School Year
Students can enroll in TK if they turn 5 between September 2nd and June 2nd
2025-2026 School Year (and each school year thereafter)
Students who will have their fourth birthday by September 1st shall be admitted into TK.
Students who turn 5 on September 1st shall be admitted into Kindergarten
Due to the changes with Assembly Bill 130, PVPUSD will strictly adhere to the birthday cutoffs as outlined above. For the 2024-25 school year, students turning 5 between July 1st & September 1st (Kindergarten age) will have an opportunity to request an appointment for TK screening at the time of enrollment.
