The PVPUSD welcomes students in grades TK-12 that are the grandchildren of residents within the attendance boundaries of the school district!

**All New Applications are approved based on available space in the program your student requires and if the application is approved, the student will be placed at site with available space. We recommend you also enroll with your School District of Residence**

What Qualifies as a Residence within the attendance boundaries of the PVPUSD?

“Attendance Boundaries of the District” is limited to only the official district boundaries of the school district. Certain areas of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes are technically zoned for Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and do not qualify as “within the attendance boundaries”. The Eastview area of LAUSD is indicated on the map with the red star below. For more information about these areas, click here.

How to Apply:

Please review all of the steps below prior to starting the enrollment process.

The application window for an Interdistrict Permit for the 2026-27 school year begins April 1, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. and closes June 1, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. CLICK HERE to access the application.

Required Documents Regarding Grandparent Permit (Initial and Renewal*):

Parent Birth Certificate

*Proof of Grandparent’s Residency within the PVPUSD School Boundaries

NOTE: These documents WILL ALSO be required at the time of Enrollment.

While the residency documents are submitted as part of the application, they are also required to be OFFICIALLY verified at the time of Enrollment. View the PVPUSD “Residency Verification” page for detailed information and options.

To verify the grandparent resides in the PVPUSD, we require each resident to provide TWO different utility bills, or a variation of a utility bill and other documents. For more details about residency verification options, click here.

Does the PVPUSD household receive paper utility bills mailed/delivered to the home?

Great! Provide TWO different utility bills. They must include:

Service address AND mailing address to the residence provided
In-tact document dated within 60 days (stubs/bottom portion only will not be accepted)
Grandparent listed as the primary account holder

Does your household pay bills online only or receive e-Statements?

Electronically generated documents (.PDFs, .JPGs, .PNGs, etc. printed off a browser or from an email address) will NOT be accepted as an official document.

Request a Verification of Service from the Utility Provider: Contact any TWO utility providers and request the specific document MAILED (not emailed) to your residence. This will take 5-7 business days. Leave the letter sealed to verify the authenticity. The document will only be accepted for up to 60 days.

Select utilities where:

Service address AND mailing address to the residence provided
Parent/Guardian listed as the primary account holder

Timeline:

Renewal applications are required as the student matriculates school levels. (Elementary to Intermediate and Intermediate to High School) To continue enrollment within PVPUSD, the renewal documents are due to the Enrollment Center by June 1, 2026.

This year, the application will be submitted electronically.

Renewal Documents Include:

Proof of Grandparent’s Continued Residency within the PVPUSD boundaries (updated utility documents)
Interdistrict Permit Release from the Student’s District of Residence

Once your PVPUSD Interdistrict Permit application is approved, now it’s time to enroll! Submit the online enrollment form and gather the required documents you will need for your in person office visit:

When will school placement be confirmed?

Intermediate and High School students are notified about school placement at the time the PVPUSD Interdistrict Application is approved, prior to enrollment.

Applications for new elementary students will be processed from April 1 – June 1, 2026. Enrollments COMPLETED after application approval and prior to July 31, 2026 will be notified of their elementary school assignment by August 3, 2026.
